Sweating for the Wedding (Dress)

Today, I tried on my wedding dress… With just over 3 months to go until my wedding I needed to know how it fit.

The zipper did not go up all the way. It didn’t fit.

I definitely was NOT happy. Yet, I didn’t panic. I didn’t cry.

I became MORE motivated than ever before to help lose weight and become fit and healthy for my wedding day, and beyond! As soon as I took off my wedding dress, I put my workout clothes and sneakers ON. I popped in my TurboFire DVD and got to WORK.

No Excuses.

No Quick Fixes.

I’m all about HARD WORK right now. I put in my Soul Mate workout and got to WORK with my Soul Mate trainer! Chalene Johnson makes me feel like I can reach my goals. I know I can. I will sweat for it. I will meal prep for it.

I will fit in my wedding dress and ROCK it in just 3 months.

The Original Christian Grey

Today’s big news is the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer… After watching it I have to admit I am intrigued. Why? I want to see how they show the tortured Christian Grey… Okay. I lie. That was total B.S…. I want to see the Red Room. I want to see how far the director was able to push that aspect of the movie… Sadly, I’m not too excited about watching Christian Grey. From the trailer I do not feel like the actor has the character’s piercing look. I guess I am a bit biased. I was WAY TOOOOO EXCITED when Charlie Hunnam was originally cast as the original Christian Grey. He has the look. He has the ability to make a woman hold onto her undies to keep them from falling just by his LOOK. So yea… I’ll watch Fifty Shades of Grey… And imagine Charlie Hunnam is the one in the Red Room… Oh boy. I need a moment…. Charlie Hunnam <3

Making those HEALTHY Choices

If you are like me, you looooove delicious food. Sweets, comfort food, ethnic food… All of it. This love of food is 75% of the reason why I am overweight. EVERY DAY is a struggle with choices. Fast food is on every block. Many foods are highly processed to help taste better and drive sales. And growing up eating Cuban food doesn’t help when it comes to choosing a salad over white rice and beans.

When I walk into a grocery store I go in with the BEST of intentions! Yet, sometimes walking by one of my favorite treats is far too tempting for me to say NO. Yesterday, I decided to help myself make better choices by placing myself in an environment more encouraging of a healthier lifestyle.

After work yesterday I took a trip for my local Fresh Market. My shopping list was small, but I was curious about the healthy alternatives the store had to offer. After picking up my antibiotic-free ground turkey, ground beef and chicken breasts, I decided to go for a stroll aisle-by-aisle through the store. I skipped the produce section, since I was already stocked up at home… But from what I saw, the colors were brighter and the produce just looked fresher… (Not to far-fetched to figure out how the store got its name!)

I must say, I can definitely see myself shopping at Fresh Market more often. I enjoyed being surrounded by SO many healthy options. It just helped me feel a million times better about my food options.

So here is part of my food haul… As you can see, I’m experimenting with Kale Chips, so I bought a variety. All the items that I purchased scanned ‘A’ on Fooducate!

Do I think that I am now invincible to temptation? No. Do I think that I am now going to become this super healthy foodie? No. What I am becoming is someone who is wiser about her food choices. I am becoming someone who wants a healthier future. I want to be able to live a healthier lifestyle with my fiance.

So here’s to making those HEALTHY choices… The small, daily ones… That add up and trim down!

NotSo30′s Official 3 Day Refresh Review!



Happy Monday everyone! I have received a LOT of questions regarding Beachbody’s Three Day Refresh, so I wanted to share my “official” review.

What is the Three Day Refresh?

Beachbody created a three-day cleanse as a reset button for your body. This is not a miracle cleanse where you lose 15 pounds in one week. No. This is a HEALTHY NON-STARVATION way of reducing bloat, jump starting a clean-eating program, and/or losing a few pounds prior to a big event.

What does the Three Day Refresh come with?

You will receive EVERYTHING you need to successfully complete the Three Day Refresh in a simple and clear manner. The only thing you need to get are your simple groceries! My box arrived with a booklet detailing what to eat and when for EACH of the three days and answers to many questions. It also has a list of the acceptable foods for the cleanse. The kit I purchased included 3 single-serve Shakeology packets (in a flavor that I got to choose), 3 Fiber Sweep drink packets (one for each day), and 6 Vanilla Refresh drink packets (two for each day).

What Makes this Cleanse Different for Others?

Ready for this?… You are SUPPOSED TO EAT with this cleanse. Yea. You read that right. You eat FOOD. Not just liquids for 3 days. Yes, you have to stick to the approved foods list, but you have fruits and veggies! Snacks, lunch and dinner… Being that it is a lower calorie program, the Shakeology and Vanilla Refresh are nutrient-rich drinks to help ensure that your body is getting the nutrition it needs.

Now It is Time to GET REAL… What was the Three Day Refresh REALLY like?

I have done a few cleanses in the past. Can we say HUNGRY? I was VERY impressed with this cleanse. First off, this cleanse let me eat HUMMUS. I looooove hummus. The fact that you are eating/drinking every couple of hours helps to make sure you aren’t going hungry. Now, I will be honest. I was not a fan of the Fiber Sweep, but I found a way of making sure I drank it every day. The ONLY change I made on days 2 and 3 were that I added the Fiber Sweep to my Vanilla Refresh shake! I also found that making the Vanilla Refresh and Shakeology into a blended drink with ice was yummier than just shaken in a shaker cup. It was great that I was able to add cinnamon and other “approved” flavors to help mix it up.

Any Tips for Someone Trying Three Day Refresh?

Yes! I made the mistake of eating the SAME thing three days in a row just because it took almost NO planning. I highly recommend you mix it up a little. This program takes minimal planning, so take a few minutes since it will help ensure your success.

Can you Exercise During the Refresh?

YES! The program allows mild to moderate exercise.

What Were Your Results and Would You Recommend this?

During my 3 days I did not exercise since I was barely even home! The program was easy to follow even for someone who was constantly ON THE GO! I lost 4 pounds and 5 inches! My clothes felt better on me and I did not feel as bloated! I definitely recommend this. I know I will be doing this another time before my wedding just to make sure that dress fits just right! It is that PERFECT jumpstart to getting to a healthier fitness goal!

Ummm… WOW.
Yea… I just lost 4 pounds and 5 inches with the 3 Day Refresh! These last 3 days have been CRAZY busy, but this cleanse was so easy that I barely had to think about what to eat and when… It was all so simple and broken down for me!
These results are without me working out during the 3 days… So I can only imagine that my results could have been over 5 pounds if I did!

3 Day Refresh Review – Day Two!

I have to admit that one of my FAVORITE things about the 3 Day Refresh is that I barely have to THINK! I wake up in the morning and almost my entire day is planned and ready. Now, let me not mislead you… There is a BIT of planning at the beginning… But honestly, it took me 10 minutes to review the food options, pick my favorites, and make my shopping list! Yea… You read that… FOOD OPTIONS… Cause this isn’t an all liquid cleanse!

Today I started day two… I did get a headache yesterday in the afternoon but that is because of the caffeine withdrawal and returning to work after being out for 5 days. The 3 Day Refresh DOES allow you to drink black coffee, but that’s just not for me. This morning I woke up feeling great. I FINALLY caught up on all of my sleep and I DID NOT FEEL HUNGRY.


That is one of the first questions asked when someone is doing a cleanse – “But are you hungry?” Honestly, I’m not…

I am not weighing myself until the END of the 3 days… I have a feeling my results are going to blow me awayyyy and I want to see that WOW factor! That only BOOSTS my motivation to eat clean…
